What is Virgin Voyages Grog Walk?

Leave it to Virgin Voyages to curate a cheeky pub crawl to get the party started!

You may have seen an activity called Grog Walk listed in the daily lineup section of the app. Grog Walk is Virgin Voyages cheeky pub crawl for Sailors that’s usually held twice per voyage, once toward the beginning and once closer to the end or sometimes back to back nights depending on the itinerary. Pro Tip: Go to the first one if you can book before it fills up! There is a $50 per Sailor charge for this event and it will sell out. If you happen to miss the one you’re trying to sign up for, keep checking back in the app because Sailors will often change their plans and spots will open back up.

Okay, so Grog Walk is a pub crawl… but what exactly does that mean on a cruise ship?

Grog Walk will have four stops at bars, restaurants, and other venues around the ship to sample prix fixe drinks (they will offer an alternative if you have any dietary concerns) and do some fun mix and mingle type activities. This is the perfect opportunity to get more familiar with the ship, meet your fellow Sailors, and get to know The Happenings Cast, Virgin Voyage’s answer to the typical cruise director role. Chatting up the Happenings Cast is a great choice during Grog Walk (or when you see them out and about onboard) because they can unlock some very special opportunities for you during your voyage. I won’t spoil anything but showing a genuine interest in getting to know your Happenings Cast is the move to maximize your experience and honestly, they’re just really cool people too.

Where does Grog Walk stop?

Venues can change but typically Grog Walk kicks off in the bar at Razzle Dazzle. (Don't stress if you went to Razzle and didn’t even notice there was a bar… it’s off to the left and the hosts will get you checked in for the event when you walk in.) After you check in, you’ll be given a mask to help the hosts identify who is part of the group as you’re walking from venue to venue. In order to earn your first drink, you’ll need to chat up some of your fellow Grog Walkers with a fun little activity. The next stop will likely be Pink Agave, the Mexican restaurant with some of the best late night bites. Here you’ll get to try a delicious off menu margarita and sample some of their most popular appetizers. This was my favorite stop because Pink Agave has such a vibey feel and the food and drinks are excellent. From there, you’ll head to Loose Cannon for another collaborative activity and your third drink. Virgin Voyages has thoughtfully designed everything, including the pub crawl schedule, so you’ll be given an opportunity to go back to your cabin to change into your pajamas for the pj party at the Athletic Club (if you’re doing Grog Walk on the pj party night). Everyone meets back up at the bar of the Athletic Club and the whole place turns into a pajama dance party. The Diva even makes an appearance to dance with the Happenings Cast. SUCH a fun time!
