Virgin Voyages Restaurant Guide
With 20+ all included eateries onboard, food is a key element of your Virgin Voyages experience. Virgin has up leveled onboard dining by doing away with both the buffet and main dining room (cue cheering!). Instead, Virgin features six full-service restaurants and more than a dozen other food venues around the ship.
Dinner reservations are available to book in the app 45-days pre voyage for Sailors and 60-days for Rockstars. Hop into the app and book your dinners (and also brunch and lunch are available to book as well!) as soon as possible to ensure you secure the restaurants you want at the times that best match your preferences.
I’ve sailed with Virgin more than a dozen times (with five more voyages on the books!), and below is my recommendation for the best way to schedule your dinner reservations:
Night One - Gunbae
Kick off the first night of your voyage at the only Korean BBQ at sea, Gunbae. Featuring family-style seating, this venue is the perfect spot to set the stage for a lively and social getaway. You’ll likely be seated with fellow Sailors and even have an opportunity to go head-to-head in a competition. Staff will bring you all the ingredients to make your main course on the grill. Check out the dinner menu here. If you want to enjoy complimentary sparkling wine during the sail away party, you’ll want to schedule your night one dinner around 7pm or later.
Night Two - Pink Agave
Virgin’s Mexican concept is a consistent favorite onboard. Everything from the vibey decor to the unique drinks and arguably the best steak on the ship, this venue keeps Sailors coming back for more. Check out the dinner menu here. They even have a late-night offering when a DJ comes in to create more of a party atmosphere. Here is my roundup of can’t-miss dishes, including two Pink Agave favorites.
Night Three - Test Kitchen
Experimental gastronomy makes this venue the most unique dining experience onboard. Test Kitchen can be polarizing for some Sailors, as it’s very different from typical dining concepts. The five course menu is presented as one word per course, so there’s a lot of surprises. My advice is to go in with an open mind, alert your server at the beginning if there are any dietary preferences or restrictions that may require substitutions, and enjoy the creative approach! Worst case, you’re not a fan and there’s always The Pizza Place. Also of note, Test Kitchen rotates through several menus and offers a constant vegetarian menu. Ask the staff which menu will be served when so you can schedule your dining reservations to try each one if you’re a fan of the concept.
Night Four - Extra Virgin
The Italian concept onboard is highly regarded by Sailors as one of the best restaurants onboard. Strategically, I like to save it toward the end of my voyage so I can overindulge on pasta and not worry about squeezing into my Scarlet Night getup.
You’ll notice The Wake steakhouse and Razzle Dazzle are not captured on this dinner roundup, as this was meant to help even with short cruises like the 4-night itinerary. If you have additional time onboard, you’ll get to check out more dinner options. Although The Wake and Razzle Dazzle are excellent restaurants, they both offer lunch and brunch daily, so you’ll still have opportunities to eat there even if you don’t go for dinner.
Besides the six primary restaurants, there are many other excellent options onboard, including The Dock House for tapas and mezze, The Galley food hall, The Pizza Place, and Sun Club for poke bowls, bao buns, and dips. With so much variety onboard, everyone will surely find a new favorite restaurant at sea! Check out another blog about the seven can’t miss dishes on Virgin Voyages.
